soft knees

In figure skating, we use the term "soft knees" to describe a knee position that is bent and flexible, adapting to whatever the surface is.

I just thought how translateable that is to life. The whole time you're gliding on an imperfect unknown surface, you don't know when or where the next bump on ice is, and you shouldn't be thinking about and anticipating them anyways, so you keep your soft knees, softly bent and not locked. Because then whatever comes your way, you ride that wave, you move with it, instead of fighting ot resisting it.

So in life, you stick to your core principles, your morals, sure, but you also need to keep your mind and certain values adaptive and open. So when the wave comes, you can change and ride that wave.

PS: realizing how this post is sounding like one of those Grey's Anatomy prologues and I'm not mad about it.
